The trail is fairly solid under a couple inches of fresh snow, but is just loose enough that you slip backwards with each step. The most efficient mode of transport is by far snowshoes, until things firm up a bit. All hikers that I saw today were wearing them. I did butt slide through the lower hardwood section in an attempt to pack things down. This was a totally selfless act and did not give me any joy or make me feel like a kid again. Only wanted to pack the trail for others ;) |
