Comments
Comments: With a last minute plan change from a sunrise hike of Mt Lafayette it turned out to be a spectacular day on the Franconia Ridge. Started with low visibility until just above the hut as skies cleared. Snowshoes from start to finish although micros would have been fine between Lincoln and Little Haystack. Heavy drifts in spots ascending Lafayette as well as semi supportive crust. Trail was a little tough in spots to follow in spots. i spoke with one hiker that had to turn back due to drifting. Between Little Haystack and viewpoint had been broken out over the weekend but a faint path remained due to drifts and light snow. A huge thanks to Daron who i crossed paths with at viewpoint and had rebroken the trail to LST intersection. Between both of our travel its a well defined path with need of more snowshoe love. From there to Mt Flume trail is in great shape with a nice but still loose base established. Liberty Springs Trail to herdpath is in similar condition. the herdpath leading to bike path is in fine shape as well. It was great chatting with several folks on the trail today enjoying this beautiful February day.
