Comments: Rocky Branch, Enging Hill BW, Isolation Trail 100', Iso Express, Davis Path, Isolation Spur

We hit the trail at 6:45 AM and it was -9°F. To our delight, some amazing humans were here the day before and did a wonderful job of breaking it out, so we headed up wondering how far they made it?
We had a steady pace up the trail and reached the Engine Hill Turn. To our delight, it continued on and I have to say, whoever it was, did a fabulous job of plotting their course. As a matter of fact, not only was it as straight as reasonably possible, it nearly lined up only about 100 feet from the Iso Express. I can say with a high level of confidence, this 100 feet is the only section of the Isolation trail that is broken out. The consistency the entire way was more like sand than snow and definitely needs a warm and freeze to harden up! Please do the right thing and wear snowshoes, to keep the integrity of this incredible path.
The Iso Express was nicely plotted as well and connected with Davis path less than .2 from the summit Spur. Spikes stayed in the cars. Do the right thing and wear snowshoes until we've had a decent thaw and refreeze, so the trail sets up firmly!
