| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Hancock lot was not plowed but the front of the lot had been cleared. You can get into the lot but without 4 wheel drive you might have a hard time getting out. Lots of cars parked past the entrance of the lot without any issues. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw 2 or 3 dogs on trail. They all seemed to be having a good time. Snow is packed down but still pretty loose so i'd imaging the dogs are sinking into the snow a little. |

Hancock loop - went clockwise - up north first then over to south. Trail is packed out well but as of Sunday I'd recommend snowshoes for the whole hike. There is enough loose snow that you'll probably mess up the trail a little. You are all adults, do what you want but I think snowshoes would also save some energy, you'll be sinking in with microspikes. Trail from north to south is also well broken out but subject to drifts. Hiking this in winter is great because you get to see some peeks of the presidentials as you head across to south.
Coming down South Hancock - the ascent down South Hancock is really tough right now, very steep and tough to get traction coming down. Honestly, the safest way to get down way to butt sled. I know if does not help the trail but conditions for it were amazing and we got down in about 5 minutes and barely stopped the entire time.
Views - plenty of views out to the pemi, presidentials, and sandwich range. |
