Comments: Who says size doesn't matter? Decided to tryout the new msr 30"shoes and they were just the ticket for today's conditions. 10-14" of new powder proved a worthy opponent. Armed with only my Arc'teryx armor and my trusty lightning ascents, I set out to battle the white devil. I was determined to overcome the elements and was doing a valiant job of it, but mother nature kept sending millions more minions to attempt to slow me. I was undeterred and fought on. Each time I believed I was winning, the enemy would redouble their efforts. Just as I thought I might be a gonner, I summoned some final energy. Not sure if it was divine intervention, years of conditioning in the mountains, or just that #1 meal I got at McDonald's this morning, but somehow I made it to the cabin. Feeling victorious, I soon discovered that the previous 4 miles was simply a prelude to the battle to come. Triple high snow drifts, deep snow, and high winds might keep me from the true summit. I did what any intrepid adventurer would do....I had a bobo's and a juice drink and got back to playing in the snow. Anyway, I don't think you can really defeat mother nature, but let's just say I think I earned some healthy respect today and was allowed to summit and return un dead. I did the best I could at trail breaking as I was alone, but I think folks will be pleasantly surprised when they arrive. More Jim Jorgensen handy work.
