Comments
Comments: Fan-friggin-tastic day to be out in the Whites. Mild temps, minimal winds, and visibility for miles. Accompanied by Bob The Love Goat, The Hiker Formerly Known As Detroit Rock City, and Carter The Wonder Dog. Wasn’t sure what to expect due to the lack of recent trip reports, and the big snow storm last week, but this trail has been well traveled. Thanks to all those that came before us, well packed and smooth, didn’t see a post hole all day. We all wore snow shoes for the trip and I would recommend to continue paying it forward to keep things kosher. Between North and South Twin there were a few deep drifts. It didn’t look like anyone had been between South Twin and Galehead recently. We broke that out but it’s going to take a lot more to get it into good shape. Smashing our way down was fine, but I wouldn’t want to be going up, snow was pretty deep in parts and you would be fighting the whole way. From Galehead back to Beaver Brook was also in great shape. All this will be obsolete with more snow coming Thursday and Friday.
