Comments
Comments: Amazing day on the Presi's. Ammo was very well packed - thank you to the trail breakers who came on a previous day. It was fast moving to the hut in snowshoes - once there, swapped to hillsound micros for Monroe and George. Saw some people wearing crampons, but Hillsound micros were more than sufficient. Descending cog was fine - no ice and good traction most of the way. Met a pair of skiers who left their skis at Jacob's ladder and continued to the summit in their boots due to lack of snow above there. Some minor, inevitable sliding on your feet (even while wearing micros) on the steep just above Jacob's ladder as we headed down, but easy does it and it's no problem. Would be easier in snowshoes if you so desire. We put our sleds to good use (plenty of groomed snow starting from Jacob's ladder on down - great for skiing) for the remainder of the "hike" out. Oh, and they replaced that creepy, taxidermy, rotting moose with a plastic one - if you've never seen it, it's in the woods almost at the bottom, near that bend under the trestle. And with that, Washington's finally gridded out. Great day to be above treeline with some awesome company.
