Had a later start, and I started out by following 2 barebooters. I smoothed it out the best I could. Everyone else got the snowshoe memo and was wearing snowshoes. I ended up following said barebooters down, but mercifully (for me) passed them on Valley Way, so the bottom 2 miles will be somewhat tore up unless someone came behind them.
At the hut I realized I was missing my Hillsounds, thought I may have lost them on the trail. Fortunately I had full crampons with me, which was overkill for the Osgood Trail, but I was happy to have them. Searched all of Valley Way on the way down for my wayward traction, and found them resting comfortably in the back seat of my car. The black Hillsound bag on black upholstery was good camouflage.
If you’re somewhat risk averse, you may want some sort of sharp traction for the Osgood Trail, though I saw 2 people with none at all. |
