| Lost and Found: |
LOST: My hiking pole in the snow after one of my two requisite falls on Falling Hiker trail. Also, a men's medium black puffy jacket. Somewhere between the Hut and the trailhead. I suspect I lost it on my other fall about a mile from the the trailhead on FW. It's wicked warm, enjoy. FOUND: My hiking pole after about 15 minutes of digging in snow. Never had that happen before.

A great crystal blue sky day for this hike. Cold start at -3 degrees, but warmed to 23 at the end and the sunshine was a welcomed pleasure. The trail was troughed and well defined. I wore snowshoes from start to finish. If I wasn't lazy, I'd have switched to spikes for the ridge walk which had some icy and bare rock surfaces. OBP was tightly packed and appeared to be snowshoed for the most part, but there was some evidence of boot divots and a few ankle deep postholes -- great shape overall. Most of the traffic seemed to come from FW to OBP. The descent on FW was packed but had loose snow and divots, probably from the traffic and the warming of the day. Most hikers wore spikes. Winds were mild and non existent in the trees. The Liberty "attempt" was more of a recon mission. I follow some tracks for about 0.1 mile from Haystack where they abruptly stopped, as did I. The trail from there was drifted and not broken out.
