A spectacular day to go for this one to finish off my January grid. Huge thanks to Cone Demon and crew for busting it out. Jorgensen did a great job on Engine Hill bringing you within yards of Iso Express. Conditions vary, with the lower few miles chopped up significantly from the bareboot brigade. All in all still way to soft for spikes. Snowshoes are a must. It was only myself and another hiker out there and we did our best to nullify the damage. Once you level iff after the initial climb it gets better and sometime around the wilderness boundary it is pristine. Engine Hill is still quite soft as I believe Jorgensen broke a new line. Iso express feels firmer underneath but there was quite a dump of new snow from the last storm. Davis is quite the same with some minor drifting to bust through. The return trip was much better and only further groomed conditions. |
