Comments
Comments: Followed broken out trail for maybe 2.5 miles, then had to break out the rest of the trail to Carriage Road. Some deep snow drifts in steep section near top of Glencliff Trail. Watched a dramatic sunrise from a spot between South Peak and Moosilauke. Ambient temperature -2F. Measured wind chill the whole time above treeline with my Kestrel 3000. Windchill constant between -30 and -32F. Layered up well and stayed warm. Tricky taking photos though. During my descent I realized a hiker had come up Glencliff Trail then turned around when the trail started getting steep. Hiker wasn't wearing snowshoes so there were lots of postholes and a chopped up trail. I was happy to see all six hikers I passed on the way down wearing snowshoes.
