Comments
Comments: Beautiful hike of these peaks. Boughs were heavy with snow and sky was a crisp blue. Avalon is well broken out until A-Z intersection where trail has seen much less travel. Willey Range Trail is rough broken with heavy drifting and snowshoe postholes throughout. One drift in particular just passed Mt Field is chest high when returning from Willey. a herdpath has been established around but had some fun breaking the drift on the return trip finding myself hip deep+ in snow. There are knee deep drifts throughout the trail between these two peaks. WRT beyond viewpoint is broken out as well from the part i saw. From Mt Field to Mt Tom trail is once again in great shape having seen much more frequent traffic. The viewpoint to the right of Mt Tom summit wasnt broken out but took a quick walk over to see spectacular views of the Presidentials. i met 5 others enjoying this beautiful last day of January. These trails really need some snowshoe action to smooth things out. I wouldn't recommend micros at this time.A huge thankyou! to the avid hiker that left a frosty cold beverage under windshield wiper for my Wife while she was at the Cog today. 🙂 Very much appreciated! It made her day.
