Four of us to arrived an unbroken trail after the previous day's storm but being experienced winter hikers we were all prepared with our snowshoes and our grit. Snow depths ranged from 4-6" to 12-24" higher up. Jim Jorgensen put his navigation skills to use and picked an incredible line for the engine hill bushwack and Iso express. The route is still way too soft for spikes/bare boots so if you don't have snowshoes I wouldn't even attempt it at this point. The poor guys who came after us with their crampons made it 3 miles in about 5 hours before they decided to throw in the towel. Not fun in my opinion. Snowshoes for the win yet again. 84/SSW115. |
