 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
I parked at the town office on the east side of Route 145 which was closed. The lot is decently plowed and easy to get in/out of. There is also a very large plowed area opposite you could park when they are open. Route 145 had a bit of snow/dirt/ice still mixed in with the pavement. Certainly doable for any car but I took the curvatures of the road slowly. |

Day 83, Peak 75. 2nd hike of the day after bagging the Ad Chases. Started just past 4pm as the temps were plummeting again and the sun was setting.
I headed into the field behind the parking lot and town office and into some softwoods. Not too tight at first. Lots of blowdowns to avoid though. To avoid some of the blowdowns I had to enter into a thicker, darker section of the woods but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. The woods were never really tight. The grade was relatively steep as I made my way up to the summit area though. Things flattened out as I came to a false summit, dipped down, and rose again to the true summit. I found the register without too much trouble, signed in, and headed back down in my tracks.
It took me 35min to ascend, 5-10min to sign in and a whopping 12min to get down. Snowshoes the whole way, with a minimum of 6in of powder, perhaps closer to a foot near the summit. The hike is about 1mi RT with just over 400ft of gain. 282 more days and 290 more peaks to go… |
