Comments
Comments: Trail was in decent shape until a group of barebooters postholed most of the way up. Snowshoes were needed until about halfway from the tree line to the Gulfside, when the depth decreased and prolific rocks made them difficult. We kept snowshoes on, thinking it was going to turn back to deeper snow, but it never did: we switched to spikes about halfway up Jefferson which made it much easier. Put snowshoes back on at tree line on the Jewell for the decent. A few other snowshoers had gone through in the interim and fixed the trail up quite a bit. Cold but beautiful day!
