Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: newly relocated Gale River Trail bypasses 2 larger crossings tho I checked out first one and it was certainly doable. Stream crossing on new trail had some slick rocks but no problem. upper crossing on North Twin Tail narrower and deeper as noted in previous reports but no issue..Several large blowdowns and eroded bank at "old "crossing there
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Gale River Trail pretty smooth sailing to the ridge . First time on the relocations..lots of work has been done and it is a fine route. No signs of recent storm over to North Twin. Fresh erosion noted on North Twin trail but nothing catastrophic. Once across the river...which was fine..it was amazing to see the previously flooded areas, sandy deposits...much of the "bushwack" appears to have been under water but survived just fine. Minor reroute as previously noted around undercut bank area. Trails were in much better shape than I anticipated...no issues
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: enjoyed seeing Skipper today who is rocking his 48
Bugs
Bugs: only mirages..tho there was a bee in the car

Comments
Comments: I had been itching to try out the new Gale River trail before winter..very nice route..much more enjoyable than the old railroad grade. Uneventful ascent to hut and Galehead. About half up South Twin we started to hear some thunder rumbles which continued for a couple of hours but never seemed to get closer. Sunny on descent and time for a quick swim. The walk out after the upper crossing on North Twin was kind of sloe as we stopped often to see the different water levels..new sand bars and rock banks..just and amazing amount of water went through here last week but happy to say the trails held up well. Of course..what could you do to the South Twin climb from the hut..lol..Nice to run into Zimmers, Jazzbo and group in the parking lot and also on South Twin..they went one way..we went the other.. Pretty good day out with Val
