Lonesome Lake Trail is well packed down and only requires microspikes below the lake. Above the lake, snowshoes are necessary. Somebody wearing only microspikes really messed up the trail today, be careful of postholes. We did our best to level it out, but there are some deep ones even in the middle of the trail. Kinsman Ridge Trail up to Cannon was completely unpacked and deep - the microspiker turned around after about 100 feet, we made it to the steep part, about a quarter mile from the junction, but turned around because we weren't up to the task. Even with MSR Lightning Ascents, we were sliding back every step. Good luck to whoever goes through next. It appears KRT over the cannonballs was decently well-traveled. |
