I had the whole mountain to myself. After I joined in on the trails after staying off Private property I put on my snowshoes and never took them off. I started on Blueberry Ledge trail and broke out trail all the way to Whiteface summit. The snow was 7 inches unbroken all the way to the top. Snowshoes season. When I got to the ledges right before Whiteface summit I used my snow poles for stability a snow AXE would be better. I used some of the trees on the side of the trail to grab and hoist me up. I took my time and enjoyed the climb. Whiteface summit had a lot of drifts fresh powder. High Drifts on Rollins. Breaking that out was a challenge. 7 inches of fresh snow for the whole 2.4 miles. Snowshoes were on the whole time. I arrived at the Camp Rich tentsite and decided to cut my losses and head down Dicey's Mill Trailhead. I enjoyed the hike a lot. I'll get Passaconaway at a later date. Be safe Hikers and have fun |
