Comments
Comments: A fun team hike of Mt Garfield with a fellow Gridder and Traibreaker🙂. With no expectations of views today we were treated surprisingly fantastic moody skies with super views of the Pemi Wilderness and Franconia Ridge. Garfield Trail started with minimal snow depth for the first mile or so. At this point the boot prints we followed in had stopped. snow depth at this point was approx 6" gradually increasing up to a fresh blanket of somewhat heavy powder 9-11" with drifting throughout. At upper elevations there were two sections in particular that had knee deep plus drifts.(herdpath area). The winds had filled in most of our postholes in these spots by the time we returned from the summit. There were a pair of snowshoe tracks heading to both summit on GRT and down towards tensite. The summit had minimal snowcover with small amount of ice. Snowshoes on start to finish. While we met no hikers today it was nice to see a couple of crosscountry skiers and a dog on the snowmobile bridge enjoying the day.
