Snow shoes. Definitely. I was questioning my judgement/stamina after slogging up to the ridge where I had decided that I should just turn around, but some wonderful person had broken out the Pine Bend Brook trail. It was drifted in spots, but it was such a cake walk after struggling through the snow up to the ridge.
You wouldn't even know that there is ice lurking on all those ledgy areas approaching N Tripyramid.
No traffic on Sabbaday Brook and in the AM, there was no traffic on the loop trail either.
On my return trip down the Livermore trail, someone had bare booted up to, and then took the S Tripyramid branch of the Tripyramid trail. Bare booting equals post holing big time right now.
NOTE: Snowshoes or skis are required on Livermore Road (Waterville XC ski trails) |
