Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Willard, NH
Trails
Trails: Mt. Willard Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, January 16, 2022
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking in the Highland Center lot costs $10. Just walk in (without traction) and pay at the desk. They take credit card. I saw many people parked alongside the road and they did not seem the worse for it.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: This one was weird. The wide stream near the bottom looked as if it had frozen solid and then thawed on the top. It WAS possible to get your feet wet if you weren't careful. Other than that, water crossings were easily crossed by walking carefully across narrow ice.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One downed tree just below the top with a clear-ish path to walk around. But it was right near the "delicate plants" sign so maybe that's still not great.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I saw many happy puppers, including one very small one.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: There was a patterned scarf placed on the wooden marker where the Mt. Willey Trail splits from the Avalon Trail.

Comments
Comments: My only complaint about this hike was that it was too short. It took about two hours up and back, including the time it took to park and pay. Also, this was a TWO-SNOWMAN HIKE!
