Comments
Comments: Absolutely perfect day to grab Jackson, Pierce and Eisenhower despite -13 temps at the trailhead. The climb to Jackson is steep but fast, just go slow on the half dozen large ice patches. Once you’re up to Jackson the conditions were ideal - packed trail, minimal drifts and surprisingly few post holes. Even the climbs after Mizpah and up Eisenhower were very fast.
Going down Edmands required a bit more attention at first due to fewer recent hikers, but a few groups we met coming down had them pretty well stomped down by the lot. The 2 mile road walk back to Saco lake is exactly what it sounds like - a bit boring but very fast. Conditions will probably change with the coming storm but today was perfect.
