Nothing too hard to hop across- one was bridged but apparently someone broke through! New path slightly downstream of the hole seemed pretty solid |

Cleared a number of blowdowns, there were a few that are buried and after the winds tonight, altogether possible that there will be some fresh ones! |

Wonderful night for a moonlight hike! Temps when I left the car were around 15F, up on the ridge, it was around -5F and saw a few gusts in the 60mph range (as measured by small anemometer, not just a wild guess!) with sustained wind around 35mph. Trail was well packed out except for on the ridge, bare booted from the car until the loop split, then put on microspikes for the ascent up the north side, then just kept them on all the way back out to the car. Found a few drifts on the ridge that were nearly waist-deep... snowshoes would have been useful for that short stretch, but of course, I left them in the car like a dummy because previous reports I had read generally suggested they wouldn't be necessary... c'est la vie! Got back to the car around 1030PM and temps were -2F at that point. |
