Barebooted the road walk and used trail crampons on the trail all the way to the summit. Carried snowshoes, but did not need them.
Some minor drifting in the trail at the start of the last switchback could have warranted snowshoes, as could the short segment to the summit along GRT, but really light traction was fine.
All things considered, the trail was really excellent. Not much snow, but a solid packed base. Very fast.
Nice talking to a couple of folks today, and very nice to make introductions with Wolfgang, whom apparently I had crossed paths with before, but could not remember. My apologies, and pleased to make your acquaintance. |
