Comments
Comments: Weather forecast has been going back and forth between sleet and snow for the past 2 days, but snow was predicted for today so I was hopeful that I wouldn't get rained on. I got an early start, but the wind started to pick up by 8:00 am and it started to rain. I kept on going until the base of Wildcat Ridge Trail and the rain switched over to freezing rain. The base of the Wildcat Ridge Trail has drifted snow but once you get through it and start climbing, the trail surface is packed in places, lightly drifted, or exposed ice. I went up in Hillsound Trampon Pros, but snowshoes could have been a good option too. Came down with an ice axe and glissaded the upper portions. Saw 4 people coming down and another 4 climbing up. I barebooted on the 19 mile brook trail, going in and coming out.
