Comments
Comments: Some in our group either bare booted or used spikes to Gem Pool where we all switched to crampons. The snow was thin with ice beneath and crampons were the right tool for the job today. Saw one hiker who had gone up in snowshoes, but it was a bit boney for good snowshoeing. Up closer to the hut, the track that is broken out is not on the trail. The current track brings you to the hut on the north side rather than the south side (which is where the trail is supposed to be). We stuck with the existing track since the trail location was not obvious. Quite a few people up there today despite the cold temps (low single digit) and some wind (somewhere in the 30mph range).
