Myself (and one other I noticed) wore snowshoes. Trail was very solidly packed until the big rock at about the 2.5 mile mark from the trail head. After that the snow got a bit deeper and less consolidated in spots and was overall softly packed. Closer to the GRT junction and to the summit was a mix of drifting and soft slippery snow. It was softly rototilled from mostly spike traffic today. I was glad for my snowshoes with the extra traction and televators for the last push to the summit. Overall the trails were doable in spikes but I personally don’t like to waste any extra energy to maintain traction. |
