Comments
Comments: First time finding the winter route to the TH. Hopefully, this will help the next hiker. Turn right out of the motel parking lot and walk up Little River Road a couple tenths of a mile. Turn right onto an access road, cross over 2 bridges. Continue walking up the road. **Do Not turn off onto the herdpath immediately after the second bridge. Private Property/No Hikers Allowed. Continue past the Private Road sign on the telephone pole until you see the green and white "trail" sign on the left. Follow this logging trail to the gate on Haystack Road. Turn left and walk Haystack Road to the North Twin TH. About 1.5 miles from the motel to the North Twin TH.

We bare booted from the motel to the North Twin TH. Shortly after, we put on micro spikes and keep them on for the duration. The trail was well packed throughout the hike. The were a few areas where the trail was drifted in, no more than ankle deep. It was snowing in the higher elevations. About an inch of new snow on the upper Fire Wardens Trail.

Pretty easy going (still a good workout) and a much more enjoyable climb to the summit of Hale than the Zealand Road walk and climb up Hale Brook.
