Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No one at the Carolyn/Ted trailhead when we arrived at 9:30am. Two vehicles, aside from ours when we returned at around 2:15pm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Not much to worry about, as usual on this trail. There was plenty of water flowing, but the one ever-so-slightly-large crossing has a footbridge. The other ones were even more minimal. This isn't Lincoln Brook or the Dry River.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown covering the trail at Carolyn Trail / Wapack Conservation boundry (sign). Thank you to the trail maintainers. You a do a great service to the hiking community.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not a one. :(
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: A pair of nano-spikes. One was on the first Carolyn/Ted trail split sign. We found the other at the bottom of the Carolyn trail's open slab area below the summit/cliff trail. We placed both on that same, forementioned trail sign.

Comments
Comments: Overcast day with 5-10mph wind (nothing) - probably the first cold (20F deg) day we've had in a while. After all the warm 40F deg days, there was still some copious mud and flowing water. We barebooted up most of the way, but decided to don microspikes on the open slabs, even with much open, bare rock. There was just enough ice to error on the side of caution. We left on our microspikes for the trip down for the same reason.

While Ted's trail signage has much improved over the years, and I very much appreciate the efforts of the trail maintainer, I would really love there to a few more signs in the area where Ted/Carolyn trails diverge. Maybe it's just me, but it's a little challenging to describe to folks exactly where to go.

I really relish this route over the Wapack Trail to North Pack and the Cliff trail outlook. It's an interesting woods walk, a bit longer perhaps, but also offers a different perspective of North Pack. Great day in the local mountains!
