Comments
Comments: Solo hike, up McCrillis Trail, down Blueberry, McCrillis Path to get back to the car. All but McCrillis Path was well broken out but the melting/drizzle made for unpleasant walking in heavy mashed potato snow. Consistent light drizzle all day (still going when I got back to the car around 4). Snow depth varied from melt-out patches, to 4" below, to about 10" in drift pockets on the ridge. Slushy postholes all over the place, lots of running and pooled water on trails. When it all freezes up tonight it'll be a special kind of ugly. Blueberry had a lot of bone showing; thankfully a few of the ledge handholds were bare. The ice on the ledges was tricky as unusual, but I've seen it worse. I used snowshoes on the ascent, took them off on the descent and put on spikes. Saw two other hikers (one familiar face) but a few more had come and gone before I got to the top.
