| Comments: |
Early start to beat the snow, freezing rain, and rain forecast that did not materialize. 28 degrees at start. Kahtoolas car to car. About 1-2" of fresh snow started just below height of land on Bunnell Notch Trail to summit. Put down fresh tracks on Bunnell Notch and the first 0.5 miles of KRT where the two that slept at the cabin crossed paths on their descent and from the cabin to the summit. Snow shoes not practical due to many crossings, some exposed rocks on Bunnell Notch Trail, and packed snow. All trails packed snow ranging from a few inches to less than a foot. No Post-holing, no-ice. Saw 16 other hikers, 2 that slept at cabin and went down Mt Cabot Trail. Best trails conditions this season. A nice undercast at Bunnell Rock both times. Summit was socked in, no views. |
