Comments
Comments: South Weeks via Starr King and Waumbek OAB, party of 3. The trail as far as Waumbek was well hammered out and in good shape--we used light traction. North of there, we broke trail through about a foot of fresh powder with snowshoes. The trail was difficult to find in places--blazing is fading or gone, encroaching saplings make the hike feel like a car wash in places. Blowdowns weren't bad--a few easy step over/ walk around. More moose tracks than you could shake a stick at--very active: they had recrossed our tracks before we doubled back. Nice undercast cloud cover in the distance from the skinny views here and there. Summit is easy to miss: tiny cairn, indescript location.
