Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The 10 crossings of Downes Brook were challenging/annoying. The water was running relatively high and some rocks were under water. There were no stable snowbridges, and I had to find the rocks underneath ice and snow. A few crossings required 3-4' jumps to keep my feet dry. This was part of what encouraged me to travel back a different way than I'd planned. The few crossings on Pine Bend Brook were small and very managable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There were a few blowdowns across the trail going up Downes Brook Trail and a few on the Kate Sleeper trail, but nothing outstanding.

Comments
Comments: Downes Brook Trail was packed out relatively well, seeing at least 3-4 people before me, though I wore snowshoes the whole way. At the intersection with Kate Sleeper Trail, the trail from Passaconaway was a packed sidewalk. It was very solid all the way to East Sleeper, and the herd path was as well. Going towards the Tripyramids, Kate Sleeper had been traveled by perhaps 2-3 other people. Once I hit the slide and intersection with Mt. Tripyramid Trail, the trail firmed up more, and once I made it to Middle, it was a packed sidewalk all the way out on Pine Bend Brook Trail. It looked like only 1-2 people had hiked in using Sabbaday Brook trail. The descent on Pine Bend Brook was moderate, and not too slippery. Towards the road, the trail got very slushy and there were wet leaves and some mud.
