Barefooted up liberty. Snowshoes required between Liberty and Little Haystack. Some poor soul had postholed the trail and fallen into multiple spruce traps. Final 100 yds before Little Haystack is a very steep section including a boulder. I failed several times to cross but luckily I'm pretty tall so I managed to jump up and grab a tree and hoist myself up that way. Franconia ridge was well packed. Used microspikes for that section. Going down Bridal after the AMC hut was a slog. Very steep descent over iced over rocks. |
