Comments
Comments: With the snow on the trees and mountains shrouded in clouds, this hike felt like being cocooned in the mountains. All trails we hiked today were well packed requiring only microspikes. This was my first time up Willey Range trail in winter and it did not disappoint! While the snow smoothed the footing, the numerous steep areas added a whole new level of excitement. We managed the ladders just fine, mainly be keeping our eyes on the steps and not making any sudden moves! Our original plan was to descend Willey Range trail back to the car, but Toad agreed it might be better to proceed over Field and descend Avalon, figuring out the transport back to the car on the way down. Can I just say that Avalon trail is a dream right now? I have never seen fewer rocks. Get out there and hike it before they reappear!
