Lovely hike today with still conditions and beautiful rime ice and views towards Lincoln. Forecast was for partial sun and though we had mostly clouds the combination of overcast and undercast made for beautiful views on top. The trails are packed down all the way up to Liberty and we did not need more than our microspikes. It looks like the traverse north on Franconia Ridge Trail from the junction towards Little Haystack is much less traversed and snowshoes there would be useful. Conversely, it looked like many people had taken the fork towards Flume off Liberty Spring; that trail was pretty packed down. Ran into several pairs and individuals hiking today. |
