Comments
Comments: The 1st couple miles were pretty good condition. Not enough snow to warrant snowshoes. You would burn down your cleats if you did. There is a case for microspikes but not required. We went the bushwhack trail to shave off a about 3 miles and followed someone who broke it out. Unfortunately, they broke it out incorrectly and it led us astray. If you decide to take these. Be sure to carefully follow your route and do not rely on the broken out trail. This caused us to lose a at least an hour to navigate back to the main trail. We never made summit. We were running out of daylight and the trail was pretty rough with active water running under most the trail after the bushwhack section. This was causing heavy delays in navigating to not fall through and end up with wet feet. And there was 4 of us and we ALL broke though several times and we all fell a few times as well. Luckily only ankle deep at most points. We did not want to do this in the dark. Too high a risk for us for injury. There was a case for snowshoes in many areas but it would be an on/off scenario that we did not want to do.
