We had a day out there, what was planned for twins Zealand bonds, turned into twins w/ bond and bondcliff. North twin trail was doable with spikes, just a little bare for snowshoes, some opted for them. The whole group switched over to shoes after summit of north twin. Section between north and south was fine, pretty packed out. Twinway was a mess, just a single set of tracks made it tough to break out, post-hiking with snowshoes, it made for the 2mi section to be quite tough. Some drifting where the junction of twinway and bondcliff trail meet, some major post-hikes on bondcliff trail from barebooters. Snowshoes were perfect for going to Mt Bond, a little bony on the ridge to bondcliff, but still doable, was definitely better to have them on foot than twisting ankles left and right.
I switched to spikes after the descent of Hillary’s step, others kept snowshoes on, trail was packed out fine. LW was a breeze, I basically barebooted as a spike balled up and fell off, others kept their snowshoes on for most of the way.
