Comments
Comments: I barebooted to the intersection of the Attitash Trail while Zachary wore his snowshoes all the way. Going up the away from the brook snowshoes with crampons necessary. Snow was consolidated beneath a fresh coating of 2 to 5 inches of powder, with the ocassional deeper drift. Nice views of surround peaks but clouds were just above 4k. Noticed skiers on Bear and Attitash summits! Zachary went back down the way we came up and I bushwhacked down to the Attitash Trail. I just missed the col and ended up a little bit east of it which was okay. I took my time going around stuff, I found some blowdowns rather tough to get over. Through some thick spruces was like a blinding snowstorm when their wet loads went loose on me. I had forgotten how steep some of the scrambles are nearing the top of the trail to Big Attitash. A good foot of loose fluff down to scaping bare rock gave litle for my snowshoes to grab hold on. On my return down the Attiash Trail nothing was consolidated underneath and the snow fluff ranged from a good foot to 6 inches. The side hill above Lucy Brook was sketchy in places. I was happy to take my snowshoes off when I reached the Moat Mountain Trail again. No tracks on Red Ridge Trail. I kept meeting people out walking. One couple asked me if this trail looped back the Baths? So many people out walking to the Baths! And dogs lots of dogs on leashes.
