A beautiful, calm day for this hike. Virtually no wind except for some 5 mph spurts on Washington. Quite comfortable overall and a gem of a day. Some striking views as we went including the high summits poking through low level clouds. The trail is not quite ready for snowshoes yet, but the loose powder made for some harder hiking with some back sliding and such. We used Hillsounds from start to finish except for road walk at the end. There are some spots on Ammo and Monroe better suited for crampons which many hikers wore but many others managed with spikes. I think the snowshoes enjoyed their ride today as did the crampons. |
