Did the loop clockwise. We had microspikes on the whole way. The snow was crusty and thin, but covered the rocks. The climb up Skatutakee was scenic (lots of boulders) and pretty easy. The views at the summit of Skatutakee were nice; we especially enjoyed Thumb Mountain's summit view. Jack's Pond was beautiful and its ice was thin.
Saw only one other group today. The conditions were great for hiking these pleasant peaks!
(Make sure to look for the frog wood carving at the end of one of the blowdowns near the bottom section of the Harriskat Trail, it's pretty cool!) |
