Great day on these mountains if you have the right equipment. Still not enough snow for snowshoes. Lots of ice under the snow. I was fine wearing microspikes up the two mountains. Also occasionally used the assistance of my whippet to help me up some of the challenging spots. Switched to mountaineering crampons when I got back up to East Osceola. Made the decent much easier with all the steep icy sections. Chimney was not doable today. The trail that skirts around it to the right was dry enough that it had good hand and foot holds to get up the Rocky section there. Again great day on this trail, just take your time on the difficult sections and bring the right equipment. |
