| Dog-Related Notes: |
I'm not sure I would bring my dog on this route until we get more snow. the ice on the steeps up to Hibbard and down from Wonalancet were tricky. But then I suppose a dog could just make due by going thru the woods. |

More snow is definitely needed to make the trails safe for snowshoes. about 4 inches right now. I wore shoes for most of the day, but they were pretty much a pain in the butt. and I cringed every time I heard the crampons scrape against rock. The ice on the steeps, very very tricky. I managed, but hill sound pros would've made me feel more secure. I didn't summit Wonalancet. I opted to breakout the short cut. Took off the shoes and put on spikes for the steep descent over the ice & snow covered rocks, but they didn't help much. Spikes were basically useless for any of the conditions. Overall, the weather was gorgeous. bright skies and no wind. I didn't see any other folks on my trek. My friend who was doing Whiteface & Passaconaway only saw one other hiker. |
