Comments
Comments: Beautiful day after a tense long drive in the snow. About 6-8 inches of new powder, maybe 12 in a few spots. We wore snowshoes the whole way, but that was not really necessary and there are still rocks poking through. Saw just a few other hikers-- one in crampons, another in spikes. There is a lot of thick hard ice under the new snow, especially on top. The powder would slough off revealing its slick hard surface. Most people fell a few times. Blueberry Ledge was tough. Everyone got up though, most with some help-- a hand, a push, a haul. And thank god for the trees that provide handholds along the way, and for a solo hiker Isaac who graciously helped us on one of the tougher ledges (we were worried about him going down the last two he had left!). Diceys Mills and Passaconaway were a breeze with a fairly smooth trail, although still a little slushy up top near the springs and the aforementioned rocks pocking through in spots.
