| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
we parked at 7 Dwarfs motel and left $10 in envelope (had spoken with owner the day prior on the phone)--construction is taking place at the end of the road and no parking signs are posted; as we headed across the bridge to the 'informal trial' to get to Haystack Rd and the N Twin trailhead, we noticed multiple signs that the trail is closed and that any hiker using it is trespassing; permission needs to be sought out from the owners first; we decided not to trespass and turned around; as we headed back to the motel we were considering alternatives; a car with a couple pulled up next to us and asked us what we were doing; we explained that we hadn't been here in a while and didn't know the trail had been closed; before we knew it, we were thanked for respective private property and -- yes, you may guess what happened next -- were given permission to use the trail today to get to North Twin |

at the trailhead kiosk, we spotted bear spray, one sock and a mug; we left it all there; on the trail, I picked up a worn black carabiner; I added it to my trash |

| Comments: |
we had to work for today's peak; the trail conditions made it hard; trail conditions all over the place (see above); once the ice starts, we switched to spikes; one of us kept them on for ascend and descend; one of us switched to crampons for descend; overall, it was slow going due to ice, frozen snow, mud, river crossing,... but it was a blue bird day with great views once we reached the vista areas; not sure how useful this report will be due to tomorrow's forecast |
