Ice patches started after the Bald Peak spur, and I put on the rock spikes shortly after that. However, the rock spikes gave me zero traction on the hard ice, and I quickly switched to my sharp Hillsounds. Crampons could also be an option the closer you get to the Kinsman Ridge junction, and also on the ice flows approaching North Kinsman. On the descent, I took off the Hillsounds at the same place I put them on going up.
Awesome to run into the Three Amigos (Georg, John and Per), and also Nancy and Charlie; it was a Who's Who on the Kinsmans. |
