Comments
Comments: Excellent hike up Washington, Ammonoosuc Ravine trail started with patchy ice but became impossible to continue without microspikes after passing the cog lot. I used microspikes mostly and put on my crampons two times for two extremely icy sections. Near treeline was a mix of snow, ice, and dry trail. Microspikes required until summit (would be slow moving without them). Jewel Trail was frozen hardpack snow for about a mile at top and then transitioned to small ice patches/dry trail. Overall great sunrise hike, but absolutely bring traction! Crampons would be best for the final 2/3 of Ammonoosuc Ravine.
