Beautiful low wind fairly clear sunrise hike of Cannon. micros on from the start and switched to Hillsound Trail Crampons at 2660. Full crampons wouldnt have been to much in many spots as there are substantial amounts of blue ice,and ice bulges. Had i put my Grivels in my pack i wouldve beem wearing them. The usual muddy areas have a nice snowpack covering them and its solid. Until we get snow this trail imo is not safe with just micros. i did notice a few trees with multiple branches broken in a few icy spots from folks grabbing for a handhold. Fingers crossed for some snow soon |
