Comments
Comments: Excellent hike of these peaks.Barebooted until 3285 on FW trail when consistent ice/frozen granular became obvious.Micros stayed on for entire hike. Snowshoes were not necessary today. there is however enough packed snow/ice to use from Zealand to Mt Guyot and then again up to West Bond if wanted. i followed a faint track in these areas. Snow seemed 8-12" deep in these spots but was for the most part very supportive. Although my shoes stayed in the trunk i felt like a walking advertisement for Hillsounds as i used my rock spikes today,i also carried a sharp pair as well as the Trail Crampons. There is loads of blue ice throughout mixed with many bony areas. Highly recommend carrying a couple forms of traction. This ice will get tricky as temps drop, fortunately today ice was soft enough so i could get good bite on the seemingly endless stretches of ice. Winds were roaring this morning up to West Bond then subsided a bit until ascending Bondcliff. There were several points where i had to stop plant my feet and poles and wait for gusts to recede to move forward. As an earlier report stated if you Need the Bonds for December head North!!
