Recommended Equipment: Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water crossings weren't bad.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail was in great shape, but we did remove a couple of large dead branches.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The trail is covered in ice, making it difficult/dangerous for dogs. We saw two dogs, one of which kept lifting its paws up off the ice as I'm sure the poor thing's bare pads were freezing. Both dogs were also shivering as they didn't have coats on. Dogs need protection from the elements in winter conditions just like people do.

Comments
Comments: With the exception of a few sections near the beginning that get a lot of sun, the entire trail is covered in a thick layer of ice. It's possible to hike it safely if you wear trail crampons (I don't think microspikes would provide enough traction). We wore Hillsounds and they worked well both up and down, even on the very steep sections. I wouldn't recommend trying this hike right now if you don't have the right gear as it would be extremely dangerous.
